They show a few similarities and one would count their degree of religiosity as one of those. They also show a HDI (Human Development Index)vis-a-vis the rest of the European Union that tells its own stories (whether or not one counts the old Italian habit of making newspaper headlines for escorts or even briefcases (remember those days?!)! Can the EU become a victim of human frailties or what one would like to term as a 'malady of habits'? Of a gradual Frankenstein's monster that devours its own entrails or innards (in this case)? Governance and transparency when applied to the EU as a whole does indicate a problem that may not entirely be visible at the level of the individual member states.
