Irish Foreign Minister: "would a dictatorship not be delightfully simple?"

German daily FAZ looks ahead to the second referendum in Ireland on the Lisbon Treaty, and quotes Foreign Minister Micheál Martin saying that “democracies are complex”, adding, sarcastically, “would a dictatorship not be delightfully simple?” He adds that “it was easier with the introduction of the common market and the euro.”

The article quotes French President Nicolas Sarkozy telling Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen during a visit to Ireland last year: “Brian, I cannot imagine an EU without Ireland”, which was regarded as a warning. Brian Cowen is quoted saying: “We don’t lie to people. Everybody knows that it isn’t about EU membership”.

Read on in FAZ.

An Irish Bedtime Story for all Nice Children and not so Maastricht Adults

http://ceolas.net/#eu7x

The Happy Family
Once upon a time there was a family treaty-ing themselves to a visit in Lisbon.
On the sunny day that it was they decided to go out together.
Everyone had to agree on what they would do.
“So”, said Daddy Brusselsprout “Let’s all go for a picnic!”
“No”, said Aunt Erin, “I don’t want to”.
Did they then think of something else, that they might indeed agree on?
Oh yes they did?
Oh no they didn’t!
Daddy Brusselsprout asked all the others anyway, isolating Erin, and then asked her if instead, she would like to go with them to
the park and eat out of a lunch basket….

Kids, we’ll finish this story tomorrow, and remember, in the EU yes means yes and no means yes as well!

The vote is NOT about EU-membership. It is about the Lisbon treaty. If Ireland says NO again I personally would be very pleased. But I guess it will not happen. Somewhere I read that the irish will say yes by 62%. How do they know? Of course, because not only in the Iran there can be cheated at the polls. The EU started out as a paradise for dealers and wheelers, but now they want to make a huge big US-like country of it.Toobad. Nobody likes to be pushed into such a foreign sort of Sowjetunion.Maria Klingler Mauthfeld 5 Kirchdorf in Tirol Austria
